Biochemical oxygen demand D is a must-measure item for water quality evaluation and an important quality indicator for measuring water pollution caused by organic matter. The traditional determination method of D adopts the chemical dilution method. This method is cumbersome to operate and requires high experimental skills of analysts. The large dispersion of experimental data often results in the inability to obtain accurate experimental results.
The direct-reading D meter is a new type of instrument that uses the air pressure difference method to measure biochemical oxygen demand. It is simple to operate and can provide accurate measurement results comparable to the chemical dilution method. It is intuitive to use and maintain, and is widely used. The monitoring of water quality in environmental monitoring, petrochemical industry, medical and health, teaching and scientific research and other departments is a powerful tool for the majority of analysts.
Inject the water sample or pretreated water sample into the culture bottle and put the carbon dioxide absorber () into the absorption cup at the mouth of the bottle. Then seal the culture bottle and place it in the biochemical incubator. When the sample to be tested is at ℃ After five days of incubation at a constant temperature, the water sample in the bottle undergoes a biological oxidation reaction at a certain stirring speed. Organic matter is converted into nitrogen, carbon and sulfur oxides and produces carbon dioxide gas, which is absorbed by sodium hydroxide. A pressure difference is generated in the culture bottle and passes through the detection glass tube. The height of mercury in the water sample can be used to calculate the D value of the water sample within the specified measurement period.
